You Can Win Again

Tiger is back! Golf is back! The image of two hands raised high in the air signaling victory is back!

In fact, turn on any news or sports station and you’ll see the fairy tale story of Woods winning his first PGA Tour event since 2013. But what excited me most is that Woods’ win is a reminder to us all that regardless of what you’ve gone through, you can WIN AGAIN!

The sweet smell of victory is what we all seek. It’s what we all crave. It’s what we all want for our lives. But often times while striving to be the best we can be, while striving to climb the corporate ladder, while striving to make our dreams come true, life punches us in the mouth as says it’s not possible.

But after watching Woods make that final putt at East Lake in Atlanta, the world-famous golfer pulled out a victory on Sunday at the 2018 Tour Championship, and he did it after a half-decade of what looked like a fade to the shadows. The five years leading up to the tourney suggested Tiger’s victory days were long gone.

Woods’ victory was unimaginable to many based on where he was just a year ago. Just a year ago, Woods was rated No. 1,199 among international golfers, and just had his fourth back surgery.

This victory, according to sports historians, puts his stamp on being one of the greatest comeback stories in sports history. He is now just two behind Sam Snead for all-time PGA tour victories. Snead has 82 and Woods has 80.

In addition to that, the conversation of whether Woods can catch Jack Nicklaus, is back on again.

Woods has been stuck at14 majors ever since 2008 and many sports analysts had pretty much written him off with all his injury and personal troubles, saying that he would never catch Jack Nicklaus’s 18.

But get this; Nicklaus himself now believes otherwise, saying it is realistic for the 42-year-old Woods to win at least four more majors to match the Golden Bear’s record of 18 majors.

Golf fans everywhere are in agreement that The Tour Championship was the one to win if he was going to make a statement. It was the perfect way to finish the year, especially for golf fans going into the Rider Cup and fans looking forward to next year.

So on today, if life has had you down for a very long time, about the same amount of time that Woods has been down…or longer, be encouraged and know that there is still hope. You can win again! Woods is proof of it!
